ABOUT

REID architecture PLLC is located in the Gowanus district of Brooklyn NY and in complex of industrial studios of makers and artists. It is an environment perfect for fostering close, collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, fabricators, and contractors. The firm’s work is informed by Reid’s teaching and experience in design and building technology and influenced by his background in studio arts and photography. The firm's work shows an ambition to enhance the experience of the built environment through a focus on light, material selections, details, and unique connections to a site. Creative design solutions are forged by the challenges to meet the specific needs of each project in close collaboration with clients and the assembled team and provide value to projects. Current projects are in the NYC region and throughout the United States.

 

STUDIO

Reid Freeman AIA is the founding principal of REID Architecture PLLC, a small firm recognized for the design and execution of contextually sensitive buildings, additions, and pavilions for institutional, cultural, and residential clients.

With over 30 years of experience in the practice of architecture and direct experience gained on significant award winning international and domestic projects, Reid brings a knowledge of design, management, and technical execution to each project.

Reid holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Studio Arts from Colgate University. He is LEED accredited and is a licensed architect in the states of NY, NJ, CT, FL, MA, NC, OR, PA, RI, VA, TX, and WA. Reid is currently an assistant visiting faculty member in the Master of Architecture program at Pratt Institute’s GAUD. Before joining Pratt, Reid taught at the New School’s Parsons School of Design SCE, Princeton University SOA, the Royal Danish Design Academy, Harvard University GSD, and Tulane University.
